Our client, a firm that engineers and manufactures custom industrial temperature control equipment, seeks an Electrical Engineer. This is a Direct Hire role. Client sells into the Rubber, Plastics, Pharmaceutical, Specialty Chemical, Paper, Food, and Metal Working industries. Their product is comprised of skid mounted assemblies of pumps, heat exchangers, heaters, control valve, and electronic controllers. Equipment sizes range from standard units the size of a waste basket, to integrated systems up to 46’ long.
The Electrical Engineer will work fully with engineering power distribution systems (not design, design work is executed by the designer. The Electrical Engineer will follow the directions and specifications from the project engineer, and build systems from there, with support of other designers).
The Electrical Engineer should have 3-5 years’ experience in low voltage power controls (such as speed drives), and their governing codes (NEC, UL; CSA and CE requirements are important but not critical). For the Electrical Engineer, controls related requirement (PLC included) is a critical requirement. The Electrical Engineer will directly all phases of the electrical engineering. He/she will only oversee the design work performed by other designers. The Electrical Engineering position requires a strong knowledge and proven application history of the major electrical codes. In addition, the right person will have significant background in project management.
Other responsibilities for the Electrical Engineer will include:
Coordinating design work performed by designers
Component selection, the design and functionality aspects are a direct responsibility
Evaluating with the project engineer the scope of work Reviewing the sales and technical information/specifications in general and particularly the electrical systems requirements
Selecting the electrical components as part of the general bill of materials applying knowledge of electricity and materials, and within the project budget
Confirming system's functionality and components' capabilities
Developing electrical design concept in compliance with the national, industry and customer specifications
Assuring product quality by designing electrical testing methods; assists test department with finished products and system capabilities
Providing engineering information as requested by the project engineer
Degree in Engineering Relevant experience with NEC, UL-508A, UL-1995, CSA and CE in industrial enclosures, low voltage power distribution and controls (CSA and CE requirements are important but not critical)
Knowledge and proven application history of the major electrical codes
Project management, including specification assessment, application evaluation, component selection and evaluation, cost control, electrical design risk assessment, design review with customers
Coordinating the work of designers
Engineering of automated circuits
Experience in Low voltage power control (includes speed drives) and / or Governing codes (NEC, UL).
Electrical systems design: motor controls, low voltage power distribution. Controllers including PLC (AB Micrologix, CompactLogix, SLC, Siemens) Knowledge of variable speed and soft start applications (AB, Square D, and Toshiba) a plus
Knowledge of solid state devices in power controls a plus Controls system design: pressure, temperature and motion AutoCAD a plus
