Job Summary

The Lab Tech II processes specimens for testing as required and performs analysis on blood, body fluids, and other appropriate specimens. During testing, the Lab Tech II operates automated and computerized equipment; performs quality control analysis and evaluates laboratory data for accuracy. The Lab Tech II also provides reliable test results to appropriate personnel in a timely manner for the diagnosis and treatment of patients and assumes Team Leader duties as assigned.

Qualifications - Minimum


Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Is a college graduate with a baccalaureate degree in science and is registered as a medical technologist (MT, MLS, BB, C, H, or M) or specialist (SBB, SC, SH, or SM) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or

Is a graduate of an approved school of medical laboratory technology with an associate degree and is registered as a medical laboratory technician (MLT) by the ASCP.

NOTE: A recent graduate with registration exam scheduled meets requirements.

Service oriented attitude to relate and communicate effectively with co-workers, patients, families and medical staff.

Intermediate computer skills required. Ability and willingness to learn multiple software applications.

Organizational skills needed to work efficiently and produce results in expected time frames.


Hours per pay period: 80

Hours: 7:00am to 7:00pm and 3:00pm to 11:00pm

Rotating weekends and holidays.

(8) hour shift.
