Job Description

Performs basic professional manufacturing engineering assignments usually associated with product support, or manufacturing. Applies standard engineering techniques, analysis, procedures and criteria in specific situations. Produces and correlates data. Recognizes discrepancies in results. Investigate problems, identify optimal solutions and make preliminary selections and adaptations of engineering alternatives. Independently evaluates problems or opportunities, initiates required activities, identifies solutions, and applies standard engineering analysis tools to evaluate and select solutions. Will direct or coordinate the work of designers, technicians and others who assist in specific assignments. Normally would be considered the local expert for one or more specific project(s) or product(s).

Essential Functions:

  • Support Product Launch Program Managers on new product launches with respect to manufacturing systems and coordination within OES.

  • Develop cost estimates on machining and assembly process within projects assigned.

  • Estimate and manage capital requests for equipment within projects assigned.

  • This position is vital in the development of products coordinating product engineering development and assurance compatibility for the manufacturing operations.

  • Act as liaison between suppliers and new equipment installations.

  • Act as liaison/project support with Manufacturing Plants personnel on major product changes and operations improvements projects

  • Provides related technical input regarding OES/Operations related standards and strategies as requested.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of modern vehicle assembly methods

  • Knowledge of vehicle interior components, especially trim and plastic features

  • Project Management Skills - Organized management approach.

  • Fixturing or tooling design knowledge

  • Required Experience

  • Technical Skills - Strong engineering background in manufacturing with an understanding of automotive quality requirements.

  • A balanced approach to cost -Vs- effectiveness and productivity.

  • Cost estimating

  • Quality analysis tools

  • Capacity planning

  • Computer/CAD Systems Familiarity (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD)
