Avery Dennison, has an immediate opening for a PSM (Process Safety Management) Engineer at the Performance Tapes Facility in Painesville, OH. In this role, you will design, develop, implement & manage compliance for key regulatory programs with a strong focus on Process Safety Information and Mechanical Integrity. As part of our team, you will operate under general mentorship from the Maintenance and Technology Manager to assess and develop facility specific procedures & processes to stay in sync with Company requirements and federal, state & local laws.
Follow all health, safety, and housekeeping procedures, policies and practices and consistently work in a safe manner with regard to self, co-workers, and manufacturing systems. Be a safety leader: actively engage and influence employees on the importance and benefits of working safely.
Integrate environmental, health & safety management systems with engineering and program documentation and schedules to maintain safe operating conditions and regulatory compliance.
Review system altering capabilities or processes prior to implementation: review and assist with the Management of Change (MOCs), Safety -—Reviews, and Hazard Analysis.
Review all solvent-based operations and projects to ensure compliance and viability with the solvent safety program.
Organize and provide leadership for all aspects of the solvent process by reading and reviewing mechanical and electrical drawings, procedures and solvent safety programs and policies.
Act as a liaison and respondent for audit activities.
Assist with development and implementation of training programs related to solvent safety, Confined Space, Hazmat, Hot Work, and other related programs.
Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Environmental engineering or related field required.
2+ years experience in mechanical / technical field with EHS program administration required.
Experience working in facilities employing the OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard
Ability to read and understand complex regulatory requirements.
Ability to craft training material and effectively conduct employee training.
Ability to develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's).
Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle position responsibilities and multiple projects at a time.
Validated ability to interact with all levels of the organization, from shop floor to leadership
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong analytical, research and report writing skills.
Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Autocad/ChemCAD/ASPEN, MS Office, Google Collaboration tools, internet, and function specific software.
Knowledge of Recognized and Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEPs)
Knowledge of Reliability-Centered Maintenance Programs
Experience in project management
Experience building a Mechanical Integrity program in compliance with OSHA PSM
