Cleveland Clinic Financial-Coordinator in Independence, Ohio

Job Summary:

Reviews and reconciles research charges, SOC and SOC related to research charges for assigned departments on a daily basis. Processes error corrections daily, works and resolves charges in EPIC WQ for assigned departments. Acts as a liaison between departments, PFS and research teams as related to research billing issues. Communicates daily with assigned departments and assists with building calendar of events and resolving any issues related to billing.


  • Reviews and reconciles research charges for assigned departments on a daily basis. Resolves errors found in EPIC reports for assigned departments.

  • Resolves financial and billing-related issues that are presented by patients, research personnel, department personnel, and Patient Financial Services.

  • Provides customer service and support to research patients, research personnel, departmental personnel and Patient Financial Services.

  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Thorough knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, and ICD-10 coding.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, as well as customer service skills and ability to problem solve, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks.

  • Strong computer skills, including thorough knowledge of Cleveland Clinic systems (EPIC, CTMS, Microsoft Suite.)


  • Certified Medical Coder (CMC) preferred.

Complexity of Work:

  • Thorough understanding of concepts and terminology relating to clinical research trials: billing plans, standard of care vs. research costs, device and drug studies (CMS - National Coverage Decision re: Clinical Trials), etc.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum three years previous experience in collection or other related experience with a bank, finance company or in a health care institution.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
