Program Manager, Customer Retrofit Implementation
This position is responsible for leading and managing the implementation of customer vehicle upgrades. Adaptability to changing customer and business needs is critical in order to modify the Bendix implementation solution to the customer’s unique needs. Success requires this individual to be capable of working with all levels of the customer and across the Bendix organization using an entrepreneurial approach to identify win-win solutions for all stakeholders.
Work with the retrofit customers to understand requirements and unique business needs to develop a customer specific implementation plan
Be the customer’s voice within Bendix to ensure retrofit plans meet the customers’ needs
Develop and deliver customer program review material, including metrics and program plans, for all levels of the customer as appropriate.
Collaborate with the customer account management to ensure all aspects of the program are managed from implementation, to driver training and post-installation support.
Drive and direct cross-functional teams, and coordinate multi-functional activities to meet milestones and deliver programs on plan to minimize disruption to the customer’s day-to-day operation.
Identify, create and prepare customer program updates and status review material for internal stakeholders, including the Leadership Team.
Accountable for identification and resolution of issues by creating and implementing contingency plans as needed.
Be the customer’s primary contact and coordination point for the installation of Bendix retrofit systems.
Visit customers and certified installer locations as needed to ensure efficient customer implementation
Work with Retrofit Product Manager to complete QFDs and assist in establishing priorities based on customer’s needs and critical milestones.
Develop and maintain customer planning information to support the Bendix Sales Planning and SIOP processes
Collaborate with the product and commercialization teams to identify and implement improvements to the retrofit business
Commercial vehicle industry knowledge in all three main sales channels including Fleets, OEMs and Aftermarket.
Demonstrated knowledge in creating measurable/actionable program plans utilizing program management tools and techniques.
Cross-functional team management to accomplish a common goal.
Barrier braking and resolution given competing priorities outside of the immediate group.
Understanding of major functional and cross-functional business processes and related metrics (Engineering, Operations, Financial, Marketing, and Sales).
Familiar with the full Bendix/BSFB product line for retrofit possibilities beyond safety systems.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the North American commercial vehicle industry.
Experience working directly with commercial vehicle fleet customers.
Experience in program management or product development management required.
Experience working in a fast-past, cross-functional, collaborative environment
Proven ability to lead and manage a team to deliver business results
Customer focus with a proven ability to build relationships with customers at all levels and in all three sales channels including Fleets, OEMs and Aftermarket (techs, maintenance directors, executives, principles, engineering, marketing, sales, etc.).
Customer driven attitude with ability to respond quickly and effectively to changing work situations.
Demonstrated leader able to create a positive, success-oriented team in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment in order to deliver business results.
Strong interpersonal skills, along with solid oral and written, communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage conflicts, both internal and external.
Strong project management skills including establishing milestones, project planning and implementation while meeting commitments; able to prioritize, schedule, and plan; anticipate obstacles and manage risks.
Proficiency in Word, Excel, Access, Microsoft Project and PowerPoint.
- Must be capable of traveling up to 50% of the time to trade shows, customers, installers, etc. as needed. Travel depends on needs of the business at any given time. It could be heavier at certain times of the year and lighter at other times.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business preferred. MBA a plus.
Program Management Institute (PMI) certification a plus.
