Job Description Summary

The General Manager position will be responsible for the overall performance of the business to include establishing budget goals, ensuring compliance with all laws, regulations and policies; improving profitability, growing the business and leading an engaged team. The position will report directly to the President of Northfield Block. The role will oversee 5 manufacturing facilities and approximately 100 employees.

  • Develop talent on team and within organization

  • Recruit and develop a strong staff.

  • Ensure excellence in plant fundamentals.

  • Ensure compliance with all local and federal environmental regulations.

  • Ensure compliance with SOX regulations.

  • Ensure the business meets expected financial returns.

  • Engage in activities designed to grow the business.

  • Operate a business with total honesty, integrity and professionalism at all times.

  • Direct and monitor the work of direct reports in accordance to business plan and strategy.

  • Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed.

Requirements / Education / Experience

  • Bachelors degree (B.A.) required; Master’s degree (M.A.) a plus

  • Equivalent of ten years of progressive related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Management experience in manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Prior P & L experience is beneficial.

  • Strong leadership skills while maintaining a team atmosphere.

  • Ability to tra­vel up to 60% of the time

  • Ability to work independently in a fast paced and ambiguous environment

  • Ability to influence people in different functions and at different levels to effect meaningful, sustained change

  • Ability to delegate and/or manage time

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to relate with every level of the organization, vendors and clients effectively.

  • Analytical skills with abilities to diagnose business problems using data

  • Ability to apply reasoning and judgement to oversee a multi-million dollar business.
