We currently assisting our growing, west-side client with their search for a Director of Finance.

Description of Job: This is a mid-management position responsible for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.

The ideal candidate will have proven success as a high-performing leader; they will be collaborative, strategic, and serve as a valued member of the senior leadership team (SLT).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

  • Oversees the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectives

  • Issues timely and complete financial statements

  • Coordinates the preparation of the corporate annual report

  • Recommends benchmarks against which to measure the performance of company operations

  • Calculates and issues financial and operating metrics

  • Manages the production of the annual budget and forecasts

  • Calculates variances from the budget and report significant issues to management

  • Provides for a system of management cost reports

  • Provides financial analyses as needed, in particular for capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations

  • Coordinates the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit

  • Process CAT, Sales & Use, and Excise taxes.

  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

  • 10+ years of experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment, with at least 5 years leading and developing a high-performing team

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment, partnering with those on the SLT to drive results and continuous improvement

  • Above average computer skills, including but not limited to advanced Excel

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Solid analytical and organization skills

  • Ability to mentor and motivate others

  • Self-motivated and self-directed
