Position Summary The Fleet Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel industrial tractor trailer trucks, gasoline service trucks, reefers and vans used by all Distribution Centers in an safe and efficient manner.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on all gasoline and diesel equipment and vehicles to Department of Transportation specifications.

  • Have knowledge of utlizing electrical, power transmissions and other automotive system repair guides.

  • Have knowledge of utlizing electrical, power transmissions and other automotive system repair guides.

  • Review job orders and observe and listen to equipment to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures.

  • Install and/or replace transmissions, starters, alternators or batteris as needed.

  • Examine protective guards and bolts and inspect safety devices on trucks and trailer, and make any adjustments.

  • Test drive repaired tractor trailer trucks or service equipemnt to verify confirmation to Department of Transportation specifications.

  • Perform Department of Transportation inspections on tractors and trailers.

  • Replace and repair damaged parts as needed, realign and adjust brakes and tighten body bolts.

  • Respond to road calls utilizing fleet repair trucks.

  • Operate equipment in accordance with all safety parameters.

  • Create and enter data for work orders and check sheets on work being performed to include posting of parts.

  • Check past work done on equipment and perform data input for system upgrades.

  • Keep work area safe and clean.

  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as needed and assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent
