Job Summary:

Coordinates the classroom aspects of Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI) Training. Ensures all courses are to be held according to the standards and guidelines

Job Responsibilities:

  • Reserves and organizes classrooms and equipment to conduct scheduled classes.

  • Ensures instructor, equipment, classroom instruction and student ratios meet the standards set by the Non-Abusive Psychological and Physical Intervention (NAPPI) Training Center© and Cleveland Clinic.

  • Applies adult learning techniques; adapts and develops training materials; prepares and adapts lesson plans based on NAPPI curriculum and principles using competency based education.

  • Instructs and imparts information in an interactive participative manner eliciting frequent responses.

  • Selects and uses audiovisual hardware and software to reinforce learning.

  • Evaluates and documents participant learning using program approved tools.

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Associates Degree required.


  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) preferred

  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) preferred

  • Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMTP) preferred

Work Experience:

  • One year of experience required as a LPN, mental healthcare worker, behavioral health care worker, paramedic, police officer or NAPPI trainer.

  • Two years of experience as a LPN, mental healthcare worker, behavioral health care worker, paramedic, police officer or NAPPI trainer may be substituted for degree requirement.

Physical Requirements:

  • Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech.

  • Extensive sitting, standing and walking, occasional lifting or carrying up to 25 pounds.

  • Physical agility required to teach physical components of training course.
